Description
Although the smallest of Bordeaux’s most important appellations in terms of acreage, Saint-Julien accounted for the lion’s share of wines named in the Classification of 1855. Saint-Julien wines are elegant and of medium weight, with a cedary perfume, solid but rarely aggressive tannic structure and considerable aging ability.
A delicious sleeper of the vintage, the dense plum-colored 2008 Hortevie offers up scents of herbs, earth, Asian spices, black currants and sweet kirsch. With supple tannins, medium to full body and a silky, opulent texture, this is a big time sleeper of the vintage to enjoy over the next decade.
