Description
Surely a wine at near peak drinking right now. This wine is from the solid 2006 vintage, not as age-worthy as those from 2005 say, but meaning they reach their peak drinking sooner. This is from Château Ormes de Pez of Saint-Estèphe, part of the same group which also runs the very highly regarded Château Lynch-Bages. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, although some Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot is also used in the blend.
Tasting notes
Classic Bordeaux flavours, not one of the modern fruit-laden style. Medium-bodied and quite savoury in character with earthy notes and tobacco, supplementing the more subtle fruit notes of cherry and blackberry.
