Description
An exuberantly spicy and ultra-floral suffused nose of plum, dark currant and sandalwood is trimmed in a subtle but not invisible touch of oak. The super-sleek, intense and wonderfully delineated flavors are supported by very fine-grained tannins on the overtly mineral-driven, youthfully austere and beautifully long finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This too is excellent.
Notes of cherries, wild berries, burning embers, exotic spices and orange rind introduce Dujac’s 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, a medium to full-bodied, lively and precise wine with a pretty core of fruit, fine tannins and a bright, mineral finish. This higher-altitude site appears to have turned in a very strong performance this year.
