Description
Pale bright straw. Very perfumed, vibrant Zind, offering lovely aromas and flavors of white flowers, stone fruit and fresh citrus. Long and precise, featuring a mouthwatering saline nuance to the flavors, not to mention a very smooth texture. Closes bright and long with lemony acidity typical of calcaire soils. About two-thirds Chardonnay and one-third Auxerrois; both varieties were planted in 1989 in two separate plots in the coolest section of the Clos Windsbuhl, where other grapes aren’t likely to ripen well.
It was Vincent Leflaive (father of Anne-Claude) who, upon seeing the limestone soils of the Windsbuhl, suggested that the terroir was ideal for Chardonnay. Best Zind in years.
A racy, mineral-driven white, with lots of pink grapefruit zest and white pepper notes accenting the nectarine and star fruit flavors. A lip-smacking quaff for a hot summer day. Chardonnay and Auxerrois.
