Description
A fairly new wine for Jerome Billard, this comes from vineyards in the Les Hâtes portion of Santenay, surrounded by better known, and more expensive, 1er Cru sites. As with all Billard wines, the vines are tended naturally and with minimal inputs (although Rafael, the horse, doesn’t get down to this part of Burgundy often enough to take part in the vineyard work).
In the warm, dry, 2019 vintage, the vines produced super-ripe and concentrated Pinot Noir which Jerome treated gently in the winery to capture both the lushness of the vintage and the uniquely stony minerality of a fine Santenay site.
