Merlot flight continues… Opens quickly. True purple-ruby throughout with late-forming firm legs. Nose of cranberry and black cherry with a hint of basil.
Non-typical opening of red & black fruit ‘basket’with blackberry and raspberry. Is complimented with strong minerality of wet leaves and moss with a fade of slate.
Medium bodied and above average acidity with sharp tannins that emerge quickly and fade slowly. This one is a value buy that is approaching maturity at this age.
Cellar No. 8 California Merlot. By Paul Rydquist at Asti winery. Ripe berry, pomegranate, fresh herbs and spice on the nose. Medium body. Light tannin. Ripe berries, blueberry, blackberry, plum, green pepper on the palate. Smooth spice and nice finish. I enjoyed this. Great aired out and would be good with cheese.
