Description
In the glass, the 2016 Selah Cabernet displays a completely opaque purple-crimson hue with a dark garnet halo. Moving in for closer inspection, aromatic notes suggest macerated currant, bittersweet dark chocolate, roasted meat, pine bough, fresh loam and violet oil. For a Howell Mountain wine, this bottling shows a silky-fine set of tannins that are well balanced throughout the entire trajectory. Notes on the palate suggest spice-dusted blackberry compote, slate, cedar bark and sanguine that all interact in rich harmony.
The prolonged mouth-watering finish goes on and on. While this wine is showing remarkable well early on, with so many layers to develop over time and with some age in a proper cellar this wine will have much to offer for many years to come.
