Smoking Loon was established in 2000 on a very simple premise: good wine doesnâ ™t need to take itself so seriously. Originally named for Don Sebastianiâ ™s love of cigars and his father Augustâ ™s passion for water fowl (donâ ™t ask, long story), Smoking Loon offers an irreverent, tongue-in-cheek approach to enjoying wine.
Tasting Notes
Our 2018 Smoking Loon Merlot opens with fruit-forward aroma characteristics of dark berry fruit, hints of cedar, integrated with vanilla notes from the French oak. On the palate are cherry and raspberry along with nuances of vanilla, and soft, very polished tannins.
