Description
A once-in-a-generation offering from Japan’s oldest malt house. Yamazaki 25 Year Old Mizunara is the first Yamazaki fully matured exclusively in Mizunara oak casks—no blending with other wood types. Mizunara barrels are extraordinarily rare (less than 1 % of Suntory’s cask inventory) and notoriously hard to work with, making this release a testament to patience, precision, and mastery. The bottle’s amber hue glows with reddish tones, promising profound wood influence and ancient forest character. On the nose, apricot compote sweetness meets cacao-latte smoothness, woven with nutmeg, cardamom, and sandalwood incense. The palate delivers elegant contrast—bittersweet citrus (orange peel), creamy texture, spice, and echoes of Mizunara’s signature incense and woodiness. Finish lingers in complex, woody closure, with herbal remedies, incense, and the subtle echo of ancient oak. Limited in quantity and monumental in ambition, this is not just whisky—it’s a decades-spanning conversation with one of the rarest oaks in the world.
