Description
The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigneto Poggio Doria offers a super-appealing combination of bold fruit intermingled with subtler elements that give the wine much of its classiness. Bright red cherry, chalk, white flowers and smoke are some of the many notes that add nuance throughout. Hints of slight overripeness appear on the finish, but they aren’t entirely out of character for the house style. This is an especially forward Riserva, and, although, another year or two in bottle will help the tannins soften further, the 2011 is quite expressive today.
This is a very ripe style Brunello with dried fruits, dried mushrooms and mahogany. Full-bodied with iron and leather character. Chewy tannins make this structured and intense.
