Description
Some whiskies whisper; this one declares its presence. The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve is a muscular, calculated response to the complexity of fine tobacco, designed by legendary master blender Richard Paterson to hold its own against a heavy smoke. While many single malts vanish under the weight of a Partagás or Cohiba, this expression fights back with extraordinary depth.
The secret lies in its three-part maturation architecture. The spirit is split between American white oak ex-bourbon casks, 30-year-old Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butts, and—crucially—Premier Cru Cabernet Sauvignon barriques. That final wine cask influence provides the tannic grip and red-fruit structure needed to cut through the coating of a cigar.
The liquid is deep mahogany red and incredibly viscous. It feels indulgent, unashamedly rich, and perfectly engineered for the late hours of the night. You aren’t just drinking whisky here; you are experiencing a masterclass in wood management that refuses to be subtle.
